The Doddridge Blacksmith Shop is a working blacksmith museum on the main street of Angaston in the Barossa. See volunteers of the Angaston and Penrice Historical Society Inc. demonstrate the art of black smithing and guide you through three rooms of blacksmith memorabilia.
We encourage participation and welcome you and your family to the heritage listed A&H Doddridge Blacksmith Shop. Established on the present site in 1873, it has survived war, depression and countless technological revolutions to stand today as one of the few remaining main street "smithies".
It was the industrial heart of the village of Angaston - a place of ideas and work, a place where young and old would come just to watch the blacksmith. It is a very special place and an extraordinary example of the ingenuity and commitment of a previous era.
The beauty of Doddridge Blacksmith Shop is its authenticity, its functional architecture and atmosphere which captures the essence of life through three generations of Doddridge Blacksmith endeavour....
