The Willows is a remote high country getaway situated in the Bundarrah Valley, Anglers Rest. Located half way between the country towns of Mitta Mitta and Omeo, they are surrounded by mountains, Alpine National Park and three rivers, the Cobungra,Bundarrah and Mita Mitta.
For the active, there is adventurous horse riding into the surrounding wilderness, seasonal white water rafting and wild trout fly fishing. And for the less active, drives up onto the Bogong High Plains, to the Mitta Mitta pub, Omeo or the Blue Duck Inn can also include short walks and dining.
The Willows, overlooking the Bundarrah river, provides a variety of comfortable, rustic self-contained accommodation. The main homestead has five upstairs bedrooms, two bathrooms, a downstairs dining/ kitchen area with wood fire, and outdoor campfire barbecue area. It is a bit like an African camp lodge but with lots of horses, kangaroos and birds instead of big game.
Two authentic Australian bush huts are down on the river flats. The Cattleman's log hut, built around 1900 and the Iron Hut, its exterior of old oil tins post depression years of the 1940's. Inside, both have a modernised rustic style. Think glamping!
Both huts are one roomed with a bathroom attached, although the toilet is outdoors. Each has a double and single bed, kitchen facilities, verandas and outdoor campfire and barbecue areas. Linen and towels are supplied.
Power is solar, hydro and gas so please don't bother with electrical devices such as hair dryers. This is a great getaway from technology. Digital free. If you enjoy getting away from it all, and travel and camp in remote destinations such as the Kimberleys and like something out of the ordinary, this is for you.
