Entering through an area of Otway foothills bushland (protected by a Land for Wildlife Covenant), Pennyroyal Raspberry Farm & Cidery is a hidden delight.
Pennyroyal Raspberry Farm offers luxurious self-contained cabins for couples, with views over the berry rows to the valley beyond. Attractively furnished they offer many personal touches. Colourful parrots will join you as they come in to feed.
You have the choice of self catering or one of Katrine's famous Raspberry Farm breakfasts. Their own produce and the local region are used for the breakfasts and in the Teahouse. The Crucible cider (awarded a bronze medal in the 2014 Australian Cider Awards) as well as the berry gins are available to guests at the farm. Well behaved dogs are welcome and dedicated areas available adjacent to each cabin.
Peace, birdwatching and bushwalking are highlights. A picturesque drive will take you to excellent regional restaurants, wineries, craft and gift shops and galleries. A transfer service to the ultimate food and wine experience at Brae is available on request, along with other local sites.
Energetic bike riders can try out the mountain bike trails at nearby Forrest or sample the brews (including the Crucible cider) at the Forrest Brewery and visit other members of the Otway Harvest Trail.
During the berry season, people flock to pick their own fruit: two varieties of raspberries, five types of brambleberries, red, black and white currants, jostaberries, gooseberries and strawberries. New this year are the much lauded Crucible cider and berry gins.
Use a stay at the berry farm and cidery as a base and it is a fantastic opportunity to visit all the local attractions as well as for day trips to the Coast, the Great Ocean Rd and the inland volcano country.
