Second time we've stayed at the Mantra, stayed for two nights this time but definitely not as good. Rooms are really good - especially for a family of five. First night arrived back at hotel around 9pm after dinner hoping to have a quiet drink at the bar, to find the bar shut. At 9pm. Seriously??? Thankfully the staff opened for us to have a drink. Second night stayed in for dinner. Ordered room service for the kids, then wife and I went downstairs to the restaurant. Previous experience there had been great this time not so much. Wife and both ordered steak - wife an eye fillet ($40), myself the rib eye ($44), both medium. Steaks came out and the order was wrong - both eye fillets, and both way overcooked. Ordinarily you'd forgive this if the restaurant was busy - but we were the ONLY one's in the restaurant...the chef only had two meals to cook that night and got it wrong!!! Not only that, when you're charging city prices for meals you expect city service. Honestly, the steaks looked like they'd come from Woolies around the corner. Just as well the staff handled it well - the duty manager (William) was very apologetic and comp'ed both mains. Such a pity - last time we stayed, the restaurant and bar was really buzzing but this time was completely dead. The Mantra is a nice place to stay, and we'd stay there again, but hopefully they can pick up their act a bit.
Bit tired and shower is dodgy. Weird design means walking out of my room put me on full display to the diners. Made it hard to dodge my colleagues. Otherwise a pretty cool place to stay. Staff were all lovely. The blue cheese gnocchi is amazing. A little laundry available to use makes a big difference. Walking distance to movies. I'd happily stay again
The night employee at this establishment was so kind and accommodating after we were left stranded at midnight when a booking at another hotel was not honoured. She could not have been more helpful at a time when we were tired and distressed after driving all day and most of the night. The room was spotless, comfortable and quiet. She even offered a late check out. I would highly recommend this hotel for any travellers. Thank you.
