The Morans Falls Track takes you on a short walk through breathtaking Lamington National Park, part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area. The track descends through a subtropical rainforest of booyongs, figs and brush box to Morans Falls Lookout where you'll enjoy excellent views of Morans Falls and Morans Creek gorge. You can also see layers of ancient volcanic lava flows; the more resistant have formed small cliff-lines along the valley and are best seen at the second lookout located across Morans Creek at the end of the track. The top of the falls was the site of a bark hut, the first home of the O'Reilly brothers, and today is a picnic spot.
The Morans Falls track leaves the Lamington National Park Road 800 metres downhill from the Green Mountains information centre and O'Reilly's Guest House. Some parking is available at the track entrance. The 4.6 kilometre track will lead you through natural scenery to the Morans Falls. Please keep to the track as short cuts create erosion.
The Morans Falls track is managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service. Visit their web site for the latest park information including opening hours and safety messages....
