Tarlee is a small town at the entrance to the Clare and Gilbert Valleys Council area. The origin of the name is uncertain, but it is thought to be a corruption of the name Tralee in Ireland. The town is located where the Horrocks Highway crosses the Gilbert River. The town is a popular rest stop for travellers heading north from Adelaide with a well-used toilet block and information bay near the popular Tarlee Bakery.
