Winton Raceway is one of Australia's longest-standing permanent motorsport circuits. Established in 1961, Winton Raceway is based around ten kilometres north of Benalla and is owned by the Benalla Auto Club. Each year, Winton hosts a diverse array of weekend motorsport events, which attract competitors from all over the country. Major events include a round of the V8 Supercars Championship, the Valvoline Winton 300 endurance race, Historic Festival of Speed, Performance Car Mania, Shannons Nationals, Australian Super Truck Championship, Victorian Motor Racing Championships and HQ Holden 4 Hour. During the week, Winton is a valuable facility for testing, development and driver training. Its wide variety of technical corners makes it an ideal proving ground for car and tyre manufacturers, while it is also extensively used as a test circuit by racing teams, including all Victorian V8 Supercars operations.
