Low Head Pilot Station is the longest active Pilot Station in Australia and is still active today. Most of these heritage self-contained cottages were built in 1825 to accommodate the Pilot's, Coxswain and their families; people enjoy staying in a part of Australian maritime history. Each cottage is unique in location and layout. Low Head Pilot Station is a tourist destination in itself, within the Low Head Historic Precinct is a Tasmania National Park (where seven out of nine Cottages are located) there is a Maritime Museum and waterfront kiosk. Just a short walk from the Precinct (next to the Light Keeper's Cottage) is Low Head Lighthouse. Guests enjoy the many local beaches, an abundance of green space within the National Park, local walks, waterside views and native wildlife - penguins, wallabies, wombats and more!
